VENTURA, Calif. - Californer -- As spring approaches, people gear up to launch into spring-cleaning mode. In fact, 78% of American homeowners spring clean annually, according to the 2020 ACI National Cleaning Survey. PODS® Local wants to lend a helping hand for all your spring cleaning needs so a messy home doesn't overwhelm you.
PODS Local is teaming up with 100.7 FM KHAY to find Ventura County's messiest garage. Starting March 6th, homeowners are encouraged to submit a photo of their messiest garage to https://khayfm.clubviprewards.com/contests/8KMENG for a chance to win 6 months of free storage from PODS Local, including a $250 home improvement gift card to help alleviate any stress while decluttering and organizing their garage.

"The weather is starting to warm up, and this is the perfect time to get your garage organized so that you can enjoy a hassle-free season. We have a few helpful tips to help you get started," said Steve Yapp, owner of PODS Santa Barbara.
Here are a few organizing tips to get you started on the right foot:
Start with a clean slate. Take everything out of the garage and map out the best places to store your items efficiently.
Declutter, donate and pitch. Sift through all your items and arrange them into piles labeled keep, donate, or pitch. That way, you can start organizing your garage with only the items you use regularly.
Plastic bin organization. Label large plastic bins for smaller items like sports equipment, tools, and toys. Having a specific place for each category makes life much easier when it comes to finding what you need.
Repurpose. Use old plastic piping to store gardening tools like shovels, rakes, and picks. Just cut the pipes into small sections and screw them onto a slat of wood; this will keep your tools upright and out of sight.
