Fundraiser supports educational initiatives for children in need
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Californer -- Yours Humanly, a global nonprofit that transforms the lives of children in need around the world by providing access to quality education and equitable resources, is holding its 2023 Gift of Schooling Gala, a fun, formal affair with a Gatsby flair, on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Blackhawk Museum, 3700 Blackhawk Plaza Circle, Danville, California. Attendees will include San Francisco Bay Area leaders and advocates in private, public, and nonprofit sectors who recognize the power of shared generosity and who support causes benefiting children.
Funds from the gala will support Yours Humanly's educational projects and programs that benefit children in need in Cambodia, Haiti, India, Nepal, the Philippines, and the United States. Since its founding in 2013, Yours Humanly has served more than 33,900 children, and by extension, their families and communities.

Festivities begin at 5pm with a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres reception, and include dinner, silent and live auctions, music, and dancing. Emceeing the the 6th annual Gift of Schooling Gala is Miss California, Catherine Liang, who will be joined on the program by guest speaker John Sasaki, communications director of Oakland Unified School District and former longtime news report/anchor for KTVU Ch. 2.
This year's Yours Humanly Leading With the Heart Honoree is Arik Armstead, a defensive tackle with the San Francisco 49ers and founder of Armstead Academic Project, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that every student, no matter their socioeconomic status, has direct access to the resources they need to thrive. Mr. Armstead is being recognized for his vision and leadership on behalf of children and will be represented at the gala by Aila Malik, Interim Executive Director of Armstead Academic Project.
