The hospital has received the prestigious American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke GoldPlus quality achievement award for its dedication to following nationally recognized, research-based guidelines in treating stroke patients. This award reflects the hospital's ongoing efforts to ensure that stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment, leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.

According to Josh Haywood, RN and Stroke Program Coordinator at Adventist Health Simi Valley, stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and a major cause of disability in the United States. He emphasized the importance of early detection and treatment in improving survival rates and minimizing disability. Haywood stated that he is proud that their hospital plays a crucial role in helping their community maintain a vibrant quality of life.
In addition to receiving the GoldPlus Stroke Award, Adventist Health Simi Valley also received two other prestigious awards from the American Heart Association. The first is the Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite award, which recognizes hospitals that meet specific criteria for reducing the time between a patient's arrival at the hospital and receiving thrombolytic therapy. This treatment helps restore blood flow to the brain as quickly as possible, reducing brain cell damage or possible death.

The second award is the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll award, which recognizes hospitals that provide evidence-based care for patients with Type 2 diabetes to prevent recurrence of stroke.
Dr. Henry Tung Tang, Stroke Program Medical Director at Adventist Health Simi Valley, expressed his honor in providing lifesaving care to the local community and educating patients and their families on managing their health and recovery at home.
Steven Messe, MD, volunteer chairperson of the American Heart Association Stroke System of Care Advisory Group, commended Adventist Health Simi Valley for its commitment to caring for stroke patients.
