Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As Labor Day approaches on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, the City of Long Beach has announced the schedules for its facilities and services in observance of the holiday.
According to the city's press release, several facilities and services will remain open on Labor Day. These include all city parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center), El Dorado Regional Park, fire stations and lifeguard stations, Long Beach Airport, the main police station front desk, marina offices at Alamitos Bay Marina and Shoreline Marina, as well as Gas Services Dispatch and Water/Sewer Dispatch for emergency calls.
However, there are also several closures to note on Labor Day. The Billie Jean King Main Library and all branch libraries will be closed, although digital resources will still be available 24/7. The BizCare Hotline and Building and Safety services will also be closed for the day. In addition, City Hall offices will be closed along with commercial services typically available there such as the Permit Center and Utility Customer Service.

Other closures include City-operated pools, City Prosecutor's Office, Code Enforcement services, Economic Development Department's Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network Adult and Youth Career Services Centers, Energy Resources Offices, Fire Headquarters and Support Services including Marine Safety Administration. The Health Department and Health facilities will also be closed along with Homeless Services Outreach Line.
The Housing Authority will also be closed on Labor Day along with LB Resource Hotline. Long Beach Airport Administration Offices will not be open for business either. Animal Care Services and spcaLA are regularly closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but will remain closed on Labor Day as well. Long Beach Utilities Offices will also be closed along with Mobile Access Centers.
Parks, Recreation and Marine programs as well as community park facilities will not operate on Labor Day. Refuse and Recycling Administrative Offices will also be closed along with Special Events and Filming Offices. Street sweeping will not take place on Labor Day and there will be no enforcement of street sweeping violations. However, parking meters will still be enforced unless they state "Exempt on Holidays."

Refuse and recycling collection will continue as scheduled on Labor Day. The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility will be closed but vehicles and property can still be released outside of business hours for an additional fee.
All Long Beach Public Library locations and services, including the main phone line, will also be closed on Saturday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 1. However, library patrons are encouraged to utilize the Library's digital resources which are available 24/7.
