LOS ANGELES - Californer -- Grupo Cañaveral, one of the most popular cumbia ensembles from Mexico, returns to Los Angeles for "Cumbia Week" to perform at the Hollywood Bowl during the all-cumbia concert "Cumbia en el Bowl."
With a capacity of 17,500 spectators, the Hollywood Bowl opens its doors to cumbia lovers from the Los Angeles area and beyond. Grupo Cañaveral will be headlining the concert, making its return to the famous amphitheater after their exciting concert in 2017.
Cumbia is a dance-friendly musical style created during the late 60's in northern Colombia. Now, cumbia is the rhythm behind some of the most popular songs in the world. Grupo Cañaveral, led by Humberto Pabón Olivares and his son Emir Pabón has been reinventing cumbia music since the ensembles founding in 1995, collaborating with artists of other genres and remaking popular songs in cumbia form. Thanks to hits like "Tiene espinas el rosal," "No te voy a perdonar," "No mientas más," "Hasta el cielo lloro" and "Echarme al olvido," several of the band's albums have achieved diamond, gold and platinum status.
